Post-Op Day Four....

***2:30 pm update***  When the "granny panties" are leaving a mark - just give up!  It's Loritab time for this patient!

So Monday I had surgery to remove some liver tissue and also a lymph node for further testing.  When the surgeon says "laparoscopy" what he SAYS is...three small incisions...what he leaves OUT is...huge tank of air...

That tank of air is emptied into your abdomen during surgery...I'm sure there is a very good good reason for this...like the surgeon actually needs to be able to move the scopes around and "see" what he is doing...whatever....

For the patient, this means DAYS of miserable shortness of breath (because the air that was pumped in is now surrounding the heart and squeezing it to death), pain around the heart and in the shoulders, and an abdomen that looks like it's ready for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade!

And believe me, I have tried every remedy ever suggested on the internet...to no avail...apparently the air will absorp into your system when it's damn well ready...and not a minute sooner...so for now, I continue to watch Law and Order SVU Episodes....

For the past five Sundays I have watched Law and Order all day long on TNT (i think). I might be able to plan the perfect murder after seeing the mistakes people make. LOL! Blow up some balloons to get rid of that air!!! I wish it was that easy for you.

Heather, if it makes you feel better I can bring you a box of new crayons with the sharpener and 3 coloring books - you pick your favorite and the other two for Morgan and Avery - or I can bring you a Cosmopolitan (drink later... magazine now). Thinking about you and love ya.

Heather, I have been told if you can lay on your stomach it help with the air. The tell women who have had a section to do this.

Sorry you are in pain. Avery mentioned you were "sick", so I've been asking her how you are doing. Didn't realize it was surgery until I read it here. Hope you heal quickly and feel better soon. I will be praying for you.
