Driven to Drink....

Last week I had these precious carefree girls...frolicking around the backyard (you just don't get to say frolicking enough)...feeling the grass in their toes...the sun on the faces...

Fast forward one week...

School has started...and with that my routine has been completely changed...creating havoc with my internal clock, my biological clock, my time clock...cuckoo cuckoo...

And then...the changes in the girls....Avery is going to have me knocking back Jagermeister shots with my morning coffee...we've had hour long screaming and crying fits about not wanting to go to school...this morning when I couldn't find her raincoat (which she didn't even bring to school) she told me if Daddy was here HE could find it...she goes up the four steps on the bus crying and then comes right back off...she stands next to me the entire time I'm getting dressed crying...it's very relaxing...

then onto the afternoon martinis...Morgan's homework...Have you met Morgan?   If you haven't, have you met me?  We get VERY frustrated if we can't get something right on the first try...This week's enemy... spelling words..."who" versus "with"..."wh" versus "w" leads to flying pencils, crumpled up loose leaf and crying...

I'm proud to say that at least for this week's enemy we've made some progress...Morgan rolled her eyes and wouldn't participate, but it's still there lurking in her brain and she did get all of her spelling words right...Go ahead and sing "Row, Row, Row your boat"  but replace those words with "Who, what, when, where, why"...come on...sing it in the same sing songy way...See...now you know which words start with "WH" for the spelling test...hehe...I'm can outsmart a 2nd grader...hehe....

Don't mean to bust your bubble but the older they get the harder it is to out smart them. I have already figured out I'm NOT SMARTER THAN A FIFTH GRADER. Good luck! Oh, a shot does help right before homework time.

I knew someone in Hammond that hired a tutor to do homework with her child every day because she didn't want to be the mean one. I did first grade homework with Madisyn two days this week. She doesn't like the fact that she has homework everyday now that she is in first grade.

It seems like the first semester of school is always the hardest @ my house. One day in elementary school it all "clicked" for my eldest - now a junior in HIGH SCHOOL!!!!

Now, the 9 year old, has ATTITUDE (cannot for the life of me imagine where she gets it). I find that in addition to shots of anything you can get your hands on, snacks and prayer do wonders (for both you and them).

This too will pass and you CAN do it!

my babies are all grown up; and I think doing the homework phase is ABSOLUTELY the one thing I do NOT MISS!!!
