She did not just say that....

The Anne Taintor picture above has nothing to do with this post except that I love it and love Anne Taintor and I wanted you to see it...

Now for what Miss Roller Queen said....

As I was driving to Walmart today, Morgan says, "I feel like a grown up".  No...I did NOT laugh out loud...somehow I controlled myself...but I asked, "Why do you feel like a grown up Morgan?"  She said, "because I have Twinkle Shoes, I fixed my hair and I have lipgloss on"...Again, I didn't laugh... but I did think...If I give up those same things...Can I be a kid???  Thanks for the laugh Mo!

croppin' in Denham...

Friday night I had the chance to scrapbook with some great friends (new and old - as in 50ish old - hehe)....
at Scrapbooks and More in Denham Springs...let me just say...they pretty much own EVERY Cricut cartridge...I never use my Cricut because I don't have any cool cartridges, but I kept that thing buzzing...

Here's what I did....

The title and roller coaster were from the Cricut.  Have I mentioned how much I love Tim Holtz's tissue tape?

I actually pulled out a needle and thread for the ribbon along the top of this layout (thanks Sarah Parker!!!)

That's all for now...have a fantastic week!

Driven to Drink....

Last week I had these precious carefree girls...frolicking around the backyard (you just don't get to say frolicking enough)...feeling the grass in their toes...the sun on the faces...

Fast forward one week...

School has started...and with that my routine has been completely changed...creating havoc with my internal clock, my biological clock, my time clock...cuckoo cuckoo...

And then...the changes in the girls....Avery is going to have me knocking back Jagermeister shots with my morning coffee...we've had hour long screaming and crying fits about not wanting to go to school...this morning when I couldn't find her raincoat (which she didn't even bring to school) she told me if Daddy was here HE could find it...she goes up the four steps on the bus crying and then comes right back off...she stands next to me the entire time I'm getting dressed crying...it's very relaxing...

then onto the afternoon martinis...Morgan's homework...Have you met Morgan?   If you haven't, have you met me?  We get VERY frustrated if we can't get something right on the first try...This week's enemy... spelling words..."who" versus "with"..."wh" versus "w" leads to flying pencils, crumpled up loose leaf and crying...

I'm proud to say that at least for this week's enemy we've made some progress...Morgan rolled her eyes and wouldn't participate, but it's still there lurking in her brain and she did get all of her spelling words right...Go ahead and sing "Row, Row, Row your boat"  but replace those words with "Who, what, when, where, why"...come on...sing it in the same sing songy way...See...now you know which words start with "WH" for the spelling test...hehe...I'm can outsmart a 2nd grader...hehe....

Creative Juices...

I've had a little time to scrapbook and here are a few of the layouts...  I might be a little late creating this of Parker's first birthday...if you call 365 days late...pictures of his 2nd bday coming soon...

And then my girls eating raw oysters... I really can't imagine that their little bodies SHOULD be eating them, but they ask for the EVERYTIME we go out to eat...my true New Orleans girls!

Remember the song "Apple Bottom Jeans...Boots with the fur..."  Try telling Avery it's FUR instead of FERN...That's a memory I never want to forget...especially when those fingers started snapping and her little booty started shaking...

and my friend Teri gave me the idea of pocket folder layouts...so I made one for my Mother's Day cards and drawings...you decorate and attach the pocket file folder to your layout - and voila... the perfect place to keep all of those precious treasures...

Thanks to everyone who made our scrapbook garage sale a success.  I saw plenty of familiar faces and even met some loyal blog readers (which always surprises me)...We are hoping for another one in the COOLER month of October...I'll keep you posted.... Hope your week is filled with laughs!

Mila's Daydreams

Have you seen this blog???  It is the best way to start the day.  Here's a little sample.... This is titled "Bookworm" - I literally laugh out loud everytime I look at it!

Adele Enersen is a creative genius! (i have no idea who she is... we aren't best friends... she might consider me a stalker) She has created a blog to showcase the scenes she creates while her precious baby is sleeping.  My friend Angel sent me the link to Mila's Daydreams and I am hooked.  Check it out!  Just another way to get in a few laughs :)

Out with the old....

Our trash is your treasure... Deals and Steals... call it what you will... BUT DON'T MISS IT!  I have teamed up with some GREAT scrapbookers, who like myself, may have a slight buying problem...or a "I can't use that same paper on two layouts" problem...or "I thought that would match my pictures, but now I see it is COMPLETELY the wrong color" embellishment issue....

The current count is nearing 15 tables of scrapping goodies - all at rock bottom (CHEAP) prices!

It's this Saturday, August 14 from 9am to 1pm in my office parking lot.  10761 Perkins Road (bw Bluebonnet and Seigen - closer to BB - across from Sonic).  Bring cash - no high tech credit card machines here :)

And all sellers will be present - so let the wheeling and dealing begin....

The Opening Act...

About a month ago, Ironman asked me to block out August 7th for a date.  I love dates!!!  Then about two weeks ago he told me were going to see the Indigo Girls.

I'm a huge Indigo Girls fan, have been since college, and without telling you how many years, let's just say, it's been a long time.  Me and a college friend knew the harmony in every song and could sing the songs a capella.  Too bad I don't talk to her anymore...

So about a week ago, Ironman mentions that the Indigo Girls are opening for Sugarland.  My head does that crazy spin around thing and I'm like, "Opening Act??  We have tickets to a concert to see the Opening Act??  We don't even know who Sugarland is..."  And once again I am reminded why I love Ironman so much.  Who else would buy tickets just so I could see the opening act?

A package from Nicole Petersen Designs....

I LOVE happy mail!!!  Even if the girls come screaming while I'm in the shower that someone is knocking on the door, so I jump out and towel off just in time to see the mail lady drive off....but I peak out the door and find a PACKAGE!!!!  This is what I ordered

Well, I didn't exactly get THIS finished layout, but I got the supplies and a HOW TO video from Nicole Petersen Designs.  This is so cool...I can't wait until I have the chance to "take the class".....hmmmm....a little Benadryl for the girls??

Yuck....Morgan just made Baby Alive throw up....that doll is disgusting!

Old man legs...

I had to bring Morgan to the dermatologist today, so when I made the appointment, I made one for myself as well.  I never would have gone JUST for me, but hey, since I was there, I might as well check out these red blotches on my legs....

They don't itch, they aren't bumpy, my skin just looks like it has little red dots in it.... probably a heat rash...it's been hot for three-ish months - right?

Shocking - it's not a heat rash it is......Progressive Pigmented Purpuric Dermatitis...the doctor totally wrote that down....or Schamberg's purpura (he gave me this name to google... he SO doesn't know me...I would vomit if I looked up skin conditions on the web...)

He tells me it's not a harmful condition, but a permanent one...can't really remember what he said except that the little red dots will eventually turn my legs orange...I said, "like tan orange?"...he said, "not good orange"... then the kicker...he normally sees this in elderly men...does he say this to comfort me???  because it didn't work.... actually he was cracking a little dermatology haha...but it is true that it is mostly seen in old men!

Now, if you hadn't noticed, I'm neither elderly NOR a man....and I would like to wear shorts again in this lifetime...so for now I am applying a steroid cream to my legs...but take relief in knowing it stays between the ankle and knee...so only that part of my leg will be orange (not a tan orange...)

Doc suggested we start with the cream, I can only imagine another course of action would be to zap the redness turning orangeness with a laser and I'm sure that would be a "cosmetic" treatment under the insurance rules...so let's hope the steroid works....

After hanging in for all of that....I will reward you with some pictures...

To make my day even better, I was looking through our bank statements and credit card statements tonight for charitable contributions...and I found out that although I have never been to Aveda or The Face Place...apparently someone else in this house with a credit card goes monthly....hmmmm....and....there are Build a Bear charges almost monthly....hmmmm....very interesting.....
